There will be a combination of traditional and new works by Spanish Dance Maestro Luis Montero, the legendary George Balanchine, International Artistic Director Bruce Marks, and Christine Marie Hay.. Luis Montero will premiere his new explosive ballet MEDEA. This is Ancient Greece's version of Desperate Housewives. After being spurned by her husband for a younger woman, Medea is enraged and becomes obsessed with exacting revenge. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Don't miss this volcanic tour-de-force! Maestro Montero did the passionate flamenco choreography for the gold medalist figure skating pair at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The legendary George Balanchine needs no introduction. What could be more intoxicating than a summer breeze wafting through the trees and settling down on two dancers weaving a tapestry of dance? Balanchine's exuberant Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux© is ideal for an outdoor setting. Virtuoso dancers Michele Gifford and Grant Dettling will make up this dynamic partnership. Ballet Concerto is performing this copyrighted work by special arrangement with the Balanchine Trust. Bruce Marks masterfully explores the various aspects of love in is new ballet Straight from the Heart. There will not be a dry eye in the audience after the tender song, "Once Upon a Time". It transports you back to your first love many years ago. Other songs take you through a tour of lonely love, mature love, and cynical love. Like the other choreographers, there simply is not enough room to list Mr. Marks accomplishments as a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director. Most recently he choreographed for a ballet company in Tokyo, Japan. After his appearance in Fort Worth, he will chair the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi. Christine Marie Hay divides her time between teaching at Mercyhurst College and choreographing works for Ballet Concerto. A long time dancer and choreographer for the SUMMER DANCE CONCERT, she will return to create another new work this year. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
